Fernando Dolbeth Assunção is based in Lisbon and Luanda and holds dual citizenships of Portugal and Angola. He has a strong business development background and has spent his entire career in building insurance ventures across Africa and Europe, building an excellent network across the Sub-Saharan region.

Having hold senior management positions with European and African insurance companies, Fernando has a strong background in the finance industry. First African will benefit from his in-depth know- ledge of Sub-Saharan Africa, his financial background and his extensive local presence in Angola.

Fernando holds a Bachelor Degree in Military Science and Aeronautic Engineering and has successfully completed a number of high ranking international post-graduate MBA’s.

Bodo Kohlenbach is Investment Manager and based in Munich. His main objective is to generate fund deal-flow and the subsequent investment management of portfolio companies. Bodo’s industry focus comprises energy, nanotech, biotech and chemicals. The coverage of his work is Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Over the last 8 years with PULSAR, Bodo advised over 30 German “Mittelstand” companies on strategy and M&A. Prior to joining PULSAR, he was partner in several M&A boutique advisories in Munich, Frankfurt and London. Bodo started his career as investment analyst with Panmure Gordon in London, UK.

Bodo holds an MBA from the University of Dortmund, Germany and a Bachelor in Finance and Economics from University of Dublin, Ireland.

Michael Lim has advised UK Government Ministers, multinationals and private businesses. Prior to joining Pulsar in 2007, he was the Director of Strategy and Planning at Barclays Capital and previously held investment management positions at Citigroup, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and Credit Agricole Indosuez in London, Moscow, New York and Singapore.

He began his career at HM Treasury as a Private Secreatary for a Finance minister. His specialism is on strategy, planning and investment management. He holds a BA in Financial Economics and an MBA from Columbia University NY, respectively.

Christian-Max Pietsch is based in Düsseldorf and Munich and offers more than 20 years of experience in international business development, strategic sales and as a venture capitalist. He has spent most of his professional life building international ventures in the telecoms and infrastructure industries and in governmental solutions.

In developing the concept for First African, Christian-Max contributed his business esteem for developing regions. Having spent 7 years in Sub-Saharan Africa, exploiting business opportunities for European hightech companies, he is well acquainted with the oppor- tunities and challenges of African economies.

He holds an MBA from Westfälische Wilhelms-University in Münster, Germany.
